I wasn't sure I'd use a steamer insert much, but this oval one has basically replaced my colander for veggies. The draining holes let me lift the whole thing out and tip the water off without hauling out a second pot, and broccoli keeps way more color than when I boil it.

The draining holes in this oval insert are perfectly sized — I steamed broccoli and the water ran right off without any mushy bits. It fits my pot better than the round one I had before.

Blanching green beans in this insert takes barely three minutes and they come out bright instead of soggy. The draining holes are small enough that nothing slips through, which was my worry with the flimsier one I had before.
