The draining holes are perfectly sized, so I can lift the insert straight out and let the water run off without losing any veggies. Blanching green beans in it takes maybe two minutes and they keep that bright color.

Steamed broccoli in this insert came out bright green and still crisp, nothing went mushy the way it does when I boil it. The draining step is built right in so I'm not hauling out a colander, which honestly makes weeknight veggies way less of a chore.
